Keep your cabinets in great condition

When you spend money on good-quality, custom kitchen cabinets or bathroom cabinets, you want to make sure they stay in good condition. So, it’s important that you know how to take care of your custom cabinets properly so that they don’t become lined with dirt or mold. Here are our best tips for keeping your custom cabinets in good condition.

Wipe down cabinet fronts

This is something you can do easily and on a regular basis – a quick wipe down of your cabinet doors and hardware. Simply soaking a dishcloth in warm, soapy water or perhaps using a gentle cleaning solution will help you get rid of all the dust, grime, and any spills from the front of your cabinets.

Thoroughly clean inside cabinets

Cleaning the insides of your cabinets will be a bit more of a hassle, especially when they’re usually filled with pots and pans. So, this might not be something you do as frequently, but should still be done periodically. You should empty out each cabinet completely – doing one cabinet at a time makes it easier to remember what goes where. Then, sweep or vacuum up and crumbs that have collected inside the cabinet. Clean the cabinet out with a dishcloth and warm soapy water, then wipe it down with a clean cloth to remove any soapy residue. Let it dry, and then return all the items back to where they came from.

Keep moisture out

If you let moisture linger inside your cabinets, it could create condensation and lead to problems like mold developing. When you put away the dishes and other kitchen utensils after washing them, make sure they are properly dry first. And don’t put damp dishcloths in there, either. You might have got into the habit of hanging used dishcloths from the handle of your cabinet, but this can also cause the doors to deteriorate over time due to the moisture. And, finally, when you do clean the insides of your cabinets, make sure you leave the doors open to dry them out before putting everything back in.

Keep cabinets closed

In between cleans, the best way to keep dust, crumbs, and dirt out of your kitchen cabinets is to keep them closed. Open them only to retrieve something and then close the door again afterward. Leaving cabinet doors open allows dust to accumulate, among other things.
